In this first episode of the “Young Academics in the Age of COVID-19” Podcast, our participants discussed the challenges of adjusting to online teaching and learning, the difficulties of striking a work-life balance and the importance of making curricula as interactive and engaging as possible for students. Each young academic demonstrated an admirable amount of care for the well-being of their students as both parties navigated this unprecedented moment in world history.
For this episode, we spoke to Ms. Nicole Morrison, a lecturer in Business Management at the Central University of Technology in the Free-State (CUT), Ms. Sharon Mukhola, an NGAP lecturer in Hospitality from the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), and Mr Steyn de Wet, an Industrial and Systems Engineering lecturer from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), to get their thoughts on how they handled academic life under the so-called new normal.
